Cruise of the Poll Parrot - Old Time Radio
Vintage Radio: Adventure

Cruise of the Poll Parrot

Cruise of the Poll Parrot was a rare seafaring adventure of whaling made for children and broadcast in 1937. In 1922, businessman Paul Parrot sold his shoe business "Poll Parrot Shoes" to the International Shoe Company. To promote the Poll Parrot, the company sponsored this children's radio show. Marvin Miller starred Captain Roy Dalton, the Master of the ship Poll Parrot, and he was also the voice of the parrot that was the pet of the Captain.

The Cruise of the Poll Parrot is set in 1858 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, center of the U.S. whaling industry.
